Trip Notes from David Headley, Canton, Ill.
On Monday, February 21, 2011, the Illinois Soybean Ambassadors will embark on their first international trip. The group will travel to Guatemala and Nicaragua, and will not only get to see first-hand how soy based nutrition is improving the lives of people in Central America, they will get to participate in group interactive demonstrations in both countries.
The ambassadors first will attend a conference in Guatemala City. During the gathering, the group will learn about soy nutrition solutions being used in Central America. A series of speakers and workshops are scheduled that will educate them before travelling into the field to see how proper nutrition is making an impact in Guatemala.
Soy Ambassadors will then travel to Nicaragua to explore programs led by several foundations and organizations that are making a difference through providing soy-based meals to women and children in extreme need. The group will have the opportunity to visit with people in the countryside, as well as stay the night in a “rustic style” hotel.
Please come back each day to see what, where, and how the Soy Ambassadors are doing.
